Bank Islam Opens Six New Branches This Year
KUALA LUMPUR – Six more Bank Islam branches will be opened nationwide by the end of the year, said its managing director Datuk Seri Zukri Samat.
“Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has approved our application and the new branches will be in Kota Baharu, Sungai Buloh, KL Sentral, Sungai Petani, Senawang and Bukit Indah (Johor).
“This brings the total number of branches in the country to 135,” he told reporters after flagging off participants of the third Bank Islam-BERNAMA Treasure Hunt 2013″ to Cameron Highlands, in the capital, Saturday.
Also present were Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA) General Manager, Datuk Yong Soo Heong, BERNAMA Editor-in Chief Datuk Zulkefli Salleh, Bank Islam Strategic Relations general manager Datuk Wan Ismail Wan Yusoh and Strategic Planning general manager Hizamuddin Jamalluddin.
Commenting on the programme, Zukri said it was part of their social corporate responsibility (CSR) in the effort to build rapport with the media and firm up the good relations which had been established.
According to Zukri, the media had helped Bank Islam in disseminating information to the public including on the launching of new products other then reporting on their CSR programmes involving housing aid to the poor and education fund to the needy.
The programme today on the theme ‘Driving Towards Conserving the Environment’ involved 37 vehicles and more than 100 participants from numerous media organisations.
Participants would visit an Orang Asli village in Ringlet, Pahang to carry out joint activities with the residents. – BERNAMA
