Vietnam Beat Malaysia 2-0 In International Friendly

SHAH ALAM – Vietnam scored a goal in each half to add insult to Malaysia’s injured pride during an international friendly match at the Shah Alam Stadium here Tuesday night.

Malaysia’s 0-2 loss did little to help the country’s ranking on FIFA’s list.

As soon as match official Mohd Yussof Mat Karim blew the whistle to start the match, Vietnam dominated the proceedings to pile the pressure, forcing defenders Mohamad Aidil Zafuan Abdul Radzak and Mohamad Azmi Muslim to work overtime.

Known as ‘Harimau Malaya’ and coached by Datuk K. Rajagobal, there were only a glimpse of the side that had won the AFF Suzuki Cup in succession for the past two years, especially in the 22nd minute when Norshahrul Idlan Talaha’s attempt sailed just over the crossbar.

Despite the momentary scare, Vietnam were relentless in their attack and deservingly took the lead through Le Cong Vinh’s 32nd minute strike that beat Mohd Farizal Marlias in goal. – BERNAMA
