Monorail Breaks Down, 200 Stranded
KUALA LUMPUR – Some 200 monorail passengers were stranded for almost an hour when a train from the Imbi station heading towards Bukit Bintang stalled in its tracks.
However, no passengers were hurt in the 8.35am incident, said KL Star Rail spokesperson Azhar Ghazali.
He said they received a call from the monorail driver at 8.45am and a rescue train was dispatched to transfer the passengers in a 10-minute train-to-train rescue.
“The operation did not involve other parties. All passengers are safe and the engine, air-conditioning and lights functioned normally at the time,” he told Bernama here today.
He added that services resumed 30 minutes later and the cause of the break down was still being investigated.
“On behalf of KL Star Rail, I apologise for any inconvenience caused to the passengers,” he said. – BERNAMA
