3 German Tourists Rescued From Taman Negara
KUANTAN – Three German male tourists experiencing problems while on an expedition to Gunung Tahan in Taman Negara, Jerantut were rescued from the forest last evening.
Jerantut police chief, Supt Azid Ismail said the German tourists had arrivd in Taman Negara on Aug 10 before starting their expedition to Gunung Tahan the next day.
“The Germans who were accompanied by a tourist guide began having problems when one of them had cramps in both legs and hands as well as breathing difficulty on Aug 13.
“They tried to get help by contacting the police late yesterday evening, following which a search-and-rescue operation was mounted by using the Fire and Rescue Department’s helicopter but it could not land in Gunung Pangkin this morning.
“They were only rescued out of the by the search team at 6.30pm using a land route,” he said.
Azid said the German who had cramps and breathing difficulty was identified as Christian Andres, 19, who was taken to Jerantut Hospital. – BERNAMA
