Woman Charge For Cheating Businessman

KUALA LUMPUR – An unemployed woman pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to a charge of cheating a businessman, involving a cheque for RM100,000, last year.

Kherinjit Kaur Kartar Singh, 27, is charged with cheating Hariban Singh Darshan Singh, 54, by inducing him to participate in a business, which she knew did not exist, resulting in the businessman to hand her a Am Bank cheque for RM100,000.She was alleged to have committed the offence in front of the Batu Cantonment Maybank branch at Jalan Ipoh, Sentul here at 10am on Aug 29, 2011.

Kherinjit Kaur, from Bukit Idaman, Batu Caves here, who was arrested last Feb 28, faces a maximum imprisonment for 10 years, whipping and fine, if found guilty.

Judge Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh allowed her bail of RM10,000 with one surety and set Sept 26 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Suzanne Tiyon Bimen prosecuted, while Kherinjit Kaur was unrepresented. – BERNAMA
