Settlers Wives To Get RM5,000 Windfall Today

PEKAN – Recently, 112,635 Felda settlers received the first windfall of RM5,000 each. It is now their wives’ turn to get the same amount under the second round of payment today.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said as promised, the settlers’ wives would receive the money in conjunction with Settlers Day celebration and the launch of Felda’s new building in Kuala Lumpur.

“I could see their face beaming with joy when shaking hands with them just now, as they know they will also get the windfall.

“Even those who filed an injunction against Felda will not hesitate to collect the cash,” he said when opening a mini Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism (MAHA) exhibition at Dataran Shahbandar in Felda Chini near here yesterday.

During a mammoth gathering with the Felda community in Jerantut on May 8, Najib announced that settler families would be getting a windfall of RM1.689 billion or RM15,000 for each family.

Each settler was paid RM5,000 before the listing of Felda Global Ventures Holdings

Berhad (FGVH) while another RM5,000 will be paid out to each settler’s wife after the listing.

The last portion of RM5,000 will be paid to the second generation of Felda settlers.

Najib also reminded the people in the rural   areas and farmers to undergo a mind transformation process so that they could have better lifestyle, education, health and career level.

“Farmers should be creative and innovative in implementing the transformation process, including venturing into other businesses and marketing their produce.”

He also praised the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry, which had given the MAHA exhibition a facelift and held it at various venues nationwide.

“The re-branding exercise has allowed those living in the outskirts to visit the exhibition and see the latest products and technology in the agriculture sector,” he said.
