KUALA LUMPUR – There will be no live telecast during the second debate between MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng on July 8.

According to debate organiser, Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (Asli), the move was to prevent any chaotic situation and respect Sunday’s family time.

Asli chief strategy and programme officer Ng Yeen Seen said the debate would be recorded and uploaded on the Internet (Youtube), about 10 minutes after it began.

“I also understand that the debate will be broadcast as delayed recording on Astro AEC, with Bahasa Malaysia translation on Astro Awani on the same day about 1pm,” she told a press conference here today.

Both Dr Chua and Lim will spar on the topic, ‘DAP & MCA: Whose Policies Benefit the Community Better?’. The debate will be moderated by Asli director and chief executive officer Datuk Dr Michael Yeoh.

The two-hour debate at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre in Petaling Jaya will be in English.

Among policy areas expected to be covered are education, healthcare, economic prosperity, community service, national unity, public welfare and poverty alleviation.

The first debate between the two leaders, held on Feb 18, was conducted in Mandarin on the topic: ‘Is The Two-Party System Becoming a Two-Race System?’.

Following that debate, the two leaders agreed to have another, either in Bahasa Malaysia or English. – BERNAMA
