Najib At Young Thinkers Convention
Shah Alam – Youths must be trained to have higher thinking skills so that they can differentiate between actual facts and baseless perception presented in the Internet and the social media.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the 21st century presents different challenges for youths and academic qualification alone is no longer enough.
“In the past, people would resort to penning poison letters to launch personal attacks on leaders and they even have to post it at a different location to prevent detection.
“These days, while the intent is still the same, modern medium like the Internet and social media are used by certain quarters and (attacks) can be spreaded in real time.
“Therefore, the young generation has to be trained to have higher thinking skills so that they can discern baseless perception that is not based on the truth” he said in his keynote address at the Malaysian Young Thinkers Convention,” here, yesterday.
Najib said Malaysia does not need leaders who have good acting and oratory skills, and have the guts to attack other leaders but have no courage to swear to God to defend themselves and accused everything as political conspiracy. - New Straits Times Online
