Motorists To Update Address With JPJ

Published On July 26, 2012 | latest

MELAKA – Motorists and motorcyclists have been advised to update their address with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) within two months after moving to a new place.

Melaka JPJ director Mohd Fadhil Hassan said this would enable JPJ to send notices or summonses to them.

He said those who failed to update their address could be charged under Section 58 of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Amendment 2011) which carries a fine up to RM2,000 upon conviction.

Those who deny getting any notice or summon from JPJ as it was sent to their previous address registered with the JPJ database are also liable under the Act, he said in a statement.

Enquiries can be made by contacting Melaka JPJ at 06-2328607. – BERNAMA
