Kuala Lumpur – The new series of currency notes issued by Bank Negara on July 16 can be used at the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and monorail ticket dispensers to purchase tokens and top-up MyRapid cards.
Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana), group communications head, Masnizam Hisham, said the company’s ticket dispensers accepted old and new RM50, RM20, RM5 and RM1 notes.
“They also accept the new coins,” he said in a statement today.
Masnizam said Bank Negara had supplied Prasarana with the new currency to test the system, before circulating the notes.
Prasarana, a subsidiary of RapidKL, has 286 ticket dispensers at LRT and monorail stations. – Bernama
