‘Giving Of Bonus To Civil Servants A Wise Step’

TASEK GELUGOR – Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop regards the giving of bonus to civil servants as a wise step.

He said the giving of bonus and special aid was apt as most of the civil servants were medium and low income earners.

“Giving the bonus is a wise move because most of those among the 1.4 million and 600,000 pensioners are not in the high income category.

“Most of then are medium and low income earners and do need additional money, especially during the festive season,” he told Bernama after visiting the house of Leha Nayan, 76, which received electricity supply through the Prihatin Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Programme, here, today.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, in a statement on Wednesday, announced the giving of bonus of half-a-month’s pay with a minimum payment of RM500 to civil servants and a special payment to government pensioners, which would be made on Aug 9. – Bernama
