SHAH ALAM : Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) will be liquidating some assets to assist students who are unable to access National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) study loans. Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the assets were accrued following the restructuring of debts of Talam Corporation.

“The Selangor government restructured the debts whereby real estate involving 500 acres of land (202.34 hectares) became assets of UNISEL.

“The state government will float the real estate to obtain liquidity. It is estimated RM30 million can be accrued by doing this. Part of the money will be used to assist UNISEL students who are affected by PTPTN freezing study loans to its students,” he said in a statement here Thursday.

He added that the financial aid to the students would be a temporary move until a permanent solution was found. -BERNAMA
