Pakatan MPs Defiant Against Bersih 3.0 Panel

KUALA LUMPUR: Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar (pic) said that the reason why the Bersih 3.0 panel has been receiving lukewarm response from everybody is that the panel has no legal power and credibility to summon any witnesses.

“And the fact that the appointed chairman Tun Hanif Omar’s biased comment on how the Bersih 3.0 rally was being planned by communists added to the lack of credibility of the panel,” she told reporters when met at Parliament today.

“Pakatan are more than willing to work with Suhakam on their investigation on the Bersih 3.0 rally,” said the PKR vice president.

Meanwhile, Kuala Krai MP Dr Hatta Ramli told Malaysian Digest that PAS totally rejects the Bersih 3.0 panel.

“To say that the panel has been receiving lukewarm treatment is an understatement. The truth is that it has receiving the cold treatment from everybody,” said Dr Hatta.

“The fact that the two panelists in the Bersih 3.0 inquiry, former chief judge of Borneo Steve Shim and Petronas corporate affairs senior manager Medan Abdullah have quit explains everything about the panel’s lack of credibility,” he added.

The Bersih 3.0 panel headed by former IGP Hanif has been bogged down by poor response when it called for witnesses to come forward to help its probe into the April 28 rally.

So far, only three people – R Nadeswaran (theSun), Clara Chooi (The Malaysian Insider) and Pauline Wong (theSun) – had come forward to participate in the investigation and all are journalists. – mD
