Christina Perri Live In Kuala Lumpur
KUALA LUMPUR – American singer, songwriter and musician Christina Judith Perri wowed more than 2,000 Malaysian fans at her first major concert in Malaysia at KL Live, Jalan Sultan Ismail, here last night.
The Philadelphia-born Perri, 26, performed her major hit songs most notably Jar Of Hearts, Arms and the hugely popular A Thousand Years.
A Thousand Years is part of the soundtrack of vampire and werewolf hit movie series Twilight Saga’s latest outing Breaking Dawn.
Jar Of Hearts was first featured in dance reality television show So You Think You Can Dance in 2010, and Arms was in the soundtrack of American family movie Teen Spirit.
Looking energetic and cheerful, the guitar-playing Perri and her band gave fans an enjoyable one-hour showcase, and invited them to sing along from time to time.
Her hour-long concert which began at 9pm was upbeat from beginning to end, and the singer expressed her gratitude to Malaysians for their strong support and appreciation of her music that ‘spoke from the heart’.
Her visit to Malaysia is to promote her debut album Lovestrong.
Perri taught herself how to play guitar at 16 watching a videotape of Shannon Hoon from the group Blind Melon.
She moved to Los Angeles on her 21st birthday and produced music videos there. During this time she wrote Jar Of Hearts.
This year, Perri is on a North American tour with fellow singer and songwriter Jason Mraz. She will be releasing her second studio album early next year. – New Straits Times Online
