KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak congratulated world number one Datuk Lee Chong Wei for winning the Korea Open Super Series badminton championships in Seoul, South Korea Sunday.
“Well done Datuk Lee Chong Wei!! Congratulations from me and my wife. We are in South Africa and just got the news,” Najib said in his Twitter account.
Najib is in South Africa for a two-day working visit and to attend the 100th anniversary celebration of the state’s ruling party, African National Congress (ANC).
Chong Wei defeated his archrival Lin Dan who is also the Olympic champion from China, in three sets, 12-21, 21-18 and 21-13.
It was Chong Wei’s first win of the 2012 badminton season. – BERNAMA
