KUALA LUMPUR – The name Nur Amalina Che Bakri suddenly erupted on the internet following circulation of several pictures that claimed to be the Malay genius student was viewed inappropriate by people of this country.
Seven years ago, the name Nur Amalina became a household name and was well respected following her success in creating history by obtaining 17 A1 in her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and was named as the country’s best student.
She then furthered her studies at University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in two degrees namely in medicine and Pharmacology and was fully sponsored by Bank Negara Malaysia.
Nur Amalina once again became the gossip of the people in this country when she was claimed to have failed in her studies and returned to Malaysia ‘quietly’.
However, the rumours were clearly false when reports showed the girl born in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, is still pursuing her degree courses as usual at the university.
However at the beginning of this 2012, her name was mentioned as she was criticized following several pictures of a sexy girl claiming to be Nur Amalina without a headscarf, coloured hair and ‘wild’ look compared to her image as a student in 2005.
The question is, is it true Amalina has changed and was influenced by culture shock while pursuing her education abroad?
Several entertainment and political blogs have also uploaded Nur Amalina’s sexy pictures on their respective website and questioned the girl’s identity that was clearly more western than previously.
Among the blogs that have published the pictures are Mediamalaya.com, Ceritamamat.com, Theflyingkick.blogspot.com and many more.
However, the pictures that were reputed to have been taken from Nur Amalina’s Facebook page were removed from the account after it was ‘leaked’ and shook the cyber world in this country yesterday.
If the allegation is true that the girl in the pictures is Nur Amalina, the people of this nation definitely have no right to judge her appearance or what kind of clothes she wears and so on.
Nevertheless, I am certain many would want Nur Amalina to maintain her old image and that the daughter of Che Bakri must cover up despite being far away from her family in Malaysia.
What is necessary, is only pray that Nur Amalina achieve success in her studies abroad and ask that she return to her original image as a noble Malay girl who has strong Islamic principles.
