Karpal-Ramasamy Spat Resolved: DAP

KUALA LUMPUR – The “godfather-warlord” spat between DAP chairman Karpal Singh and Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Prof P. Ramasamy has been resolved, according to a statement issued by the DAP today.

The statement, issued by the three-man panel tasked by the party’s central executive committee (CEC) to resolve the issue, said the spat has been settled and the party is looking to move forward.

The panel comprised party veteran Lim Kit Siang, life advisor Dr Chen Man Hin and secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

The spat erupted on Nov 28 after a vernacular daily reported Ramasamy as naming three individuals as DAP candidates in the next general election.

Karpal Singh responded by saying that it was not Ramasamy’s place to select the candidates and that the party had no room for warlords. Ramasamy replied that the party could do without godfathers.

The spat got worse during the Penang DAP convention last weekend, with Karpal Singh demanding an apology and Ramasamy refusing to do so.
