KUALA LUMPUR – The traffic flow out of the federal capital took on a smooth note as the people left their homes to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha tomorrow.

This was despite several minor accidents reported in the city, said city traffic police chief Assistant Commissioner Rusli Mohd Noor.

“The traffic moved smoothly this morning, probably because many people left their homes last night,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.

At 7.17am, an accident was reported at the 14.6km stretch of the Elite Highway from Putrajaya to Bandar Saujana Putra, involving a lorry which skidded after ramming into a traffic light post.

Four minutes earlier, another had occured at the 88km stretch, Sungai Petani Highway towards Gurun, Kedah where a car skidded at a road shoulder.

Meanwhile, traffic flow at several stretches of the North-South Expressway (Plus) was smooth except at the Juru toll plaza, which took on a slow pace due to an increase in the number of vehicles.

A Malaysian Highway Authority spokesman said there was traffic congestion at Bukit Tamban towards the Juru toll plaza at the Plus northen section; East Coast Highway before the Gombak toll plaza towards the east; Genting Sempah to Bentong from the Bentong toll plaza to Bentong Barat; and, at the Sungai Pahang bridge towards RSA Temerloh. – BERNAMA
