KUALA LUMPUR – Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is scheduled to hold its national congress in Johor from Nov 25 to 27, said party vice-president Tian Chua.

He said about 2,000 party delegates and observers will attend the three-day congress at Pulai Springs Resort in Johor Bahru, which will begin with the annual general meetings of the Youth and Wanita wings on Nov 25.

“The focus of the congress is the (next) general election. We are preparing for the election. Basically, it is a general election congress for us,” he said when contacted.

Tian Chua said Johor would play host under the rotation system adopted by the party for the holding of its national congress.

“We have never held it in Johor. Therefore, it was decided that this would be the best time for us to do so. Moreover, Johor is a new frontier for us to fight on,” he said.

Asked about the allocation of seats among PKR, DAP and PAS of the opposition pact for the next general election, Tian Chua said the seats have almost been sorted out except for a few where further discussion was necessary.

“This time there is not much of an issue, unlike in the past. The Pakatan will contest all the 222 parliamentary seats,” he said. – BERNAMA
