KUANTAN – A contractor thought he had seen the last of an employee after he had sacked him for insubordiantion.

Last night, the 48-year-old was proven wrong.

Upon returning with two co-tenants to their house in Taman Seroja near Jerantut about 7pm, they came face-to-face with three masked men armed with machetes.

When one of the intruders demanded for cash and valubales, the contractor recognised the voice as that of the sacked employee.

Nevertheless, he handed over RM5,000, three mobile phones and tile installation equipment totalling RM10,000, to the robbers.

The armed men also took the ignition key to a car belonging to one of the other tenants, tied up the victims with masking tape and escaped in the vehicle.

Pahang Criminal Investigation Department deputy chief Superintendent Nordin Mustapha said today, the contractor told the police that one of the robbers was an employee whom he had sacked several months ago for being a trouble-maker.

He said the victim recognised the intruder’s voice during the hold-up. – BERNAMA
