KUALA LUMPUR - Pas Youth Chief, Nasruddin Hassan Tantawi believed Pas President, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang would not refuse to be the Prime Minister if Pakatan Rakyat succeeds in winning the upcoming 13th General Election (GE).
According to him, Abdul Hadi only expressed his feeling that he is not aspired to become Prime Minister and not necessarily he rejects if PAS decides to have him fill the position later.
“He (Abdul Hadi) did not refuse, only he does not wish to be Prime Minister. That proves that position is not his main priority.
“However, if Pakatan Rakyat wins the GE and decides that he should be Prime Minister. I think, he will not refuse,” he said when contacted by mynewshub.my here today.
However, Nasruddin said, the decision of whom is the most qualified to become Prime Minister if Pakatan Rakyat wins the GE can only be decided after the meeting among three parties, PAS, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and DAP.
Puteri Umno vice chief, Shahanim Mohd Yusoff also said, Pas should have a stance relating the matter.
This is because the people wants to know who is the most qualified among Pakatan Rakyat’s leaders to become Prime Minister.
She said, if hadi does not wish to become Prime Minister then this clearly shows that Pas is only politicking ‘fun’ and not serious in its political struggle.
“Pas should have its own stance because they are a political party. If Hadi does not want to be Prime Minister, who else from Pas is qualified? The people want to know. Is Pas willing to step down and give the Prime Minister post to DAP?” she said.
Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament, Nurul Izzah Anwar said the question of whom will hold the Prime Minister post if Pakatan Rakyat rules is not the main issue that needs attention.
“At this moment, the question is not the main issue. What is important is togetherness and getting cooperation so that the people’s agenda is preferred.
“Actually, that issue was not raised. It is just provocation. Pakatan Rakyat emphasises discussions together,” she said when contacted by mynewshub.my here today.
Media yesterday reported Abdul Hadi’s statement who refused to be the 7th Prime Minister if Pakatan Rakyat wins the upcoming 13th General Election.
The issue of ‘who is the most qualified to become Prime Minister’ among Pakatan Rakyat’s leaders has been a question among the people following Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who was called to defend himself in his Sodomy II trial.
Previously, Anwar was agreed by the collaboration pact between PAS, PKR and DAP to become Prime Minister if they win the GE.
However Pakatan Rakyat still have yet to announce who will hold the country’s number one post if Anwar was found guilty by court and sentence to jail.
