LANGKAWI – Patience and prayers finally paid off for Dayah Sibun, 64, when her daughter returned home last night after she was abducted by an Indonesian boyfriend 13 years ago.
At 11pm yesterday, Nooriah Abdullah, now 30, arrived at the Padang Mat Sirat International Airport, here, from Surabaya.
The emotional reunion between mother and daughter was witnessed by family members and the public, including Kuah assemblyman Datuk Nawawi Ahmad and Langkawin Umno Youth chief Nur Saidi Nanyan at the airport.
Dayah, when met, expressed her gratitude and thanked all those involved in the efforts since early this year to bring Nooriah back, especially Langkawi Umno Youth.
Nooriah had gone missing after she told her mother she would attend afunction in Padang Mat Sirat 13 years ago, but was instead believed to have been abducted by the man.
Speaking to reporters upon arrival, she said she was happy to be home but could not stop thinking about her children and husband in Lombok.
According to Nooriah, she had gotten married to the man who kidnapped her and they have two children, aged five and 12.
